Alignly - Privacy Policy
Alignly is private by design. Your data stays on your device.
Summary
Alignly is private by design. Your data stays on your device. Alignly has no user account, no server, and no backend. We do not collect, transmit, sell, or share your personal data. We do not show ads and do not use third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDKs.
What Alignly stores, and where
Everything you enter is stored locally on your device only:
- Your tray schedule and daily wear goal.
- Wear sessions (when your aligners or retainer are in or out), including any you add or edit manually.
- Long-break records derived from your sessions.
- Reminder and sound settings.
- A doctor instruction you choose to save (shown back to you as your own note).
- Progress photos you choose to add (stored on your device only).
- Your Pro purchase status (a local flag).
Alignly does not upload any of this. There is no automatic cloud sync in this version. The only time your data leaves the app is when you explicitly export a report or a backup and choose where to send it (see below).
Permissions
- Notifications - used only to remind you about your own routine (while your aligners are out, when a tray change is coming up, or to put a part-time retainer back in). You can decline or revoke this at any time; tracking still works without it.
- Camera and Photos - used only if you choose to add a progress photo: the in-app camera to take one, or your photo library to pick an existing image. The photo is stored on your device only. You can decline these; the rest of the app works without them.
Alignly requests no other permissions in this version. It does not access your contacts, location, microphone, or health data.
Purchases
Alignly offers a one-time "Pro" unlock. Purchases are processed by Apple's App Store or Google Play - Alignly never sees your payment details. The stores process the transaction under their own privacy policies. Alignly stores only a local flag indicating that Pro is unlocked.
Reports and sharing
When you export a report, Alignly generates a PDF (or CSV) on your device from your own tracking data. It is shared only if and when you choose to share it (via the system share sheet, e.g. with your orthodontist). Alignly does not send reports anywhere on its own.
Backup and restore
Alignly lets you export a backup file - a single file containing your own tracking data (sessions, tray and mode history, settings, your saved doctor instruction, and your progress photos). It is generated on your device and saved only where you send it through the system share sheet (for example to iCloud Drive, Files, or Google Drive). Alignly has no server and never uploads the backup itself; the file is yours to keep and to delete. You can later restore from a backup file you pick. Your Pro purchase status is not included in a backup (it stays tied to your store account).
Crash reporting and analytics
Alignly includes no crash-reporting or analytics SDK. Errors are handled and logged locally only and never leave your device.
Data deletion
Because all data is local, deleting the app removes all of your Alignly data from your device.
Not medical advice
Alignly records facts and reminders about your own routine. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, treatment recommendations, or outcome claims. Follow your orthodontist's instructions for any treatment decision.
Children
Alignly is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect data from children.
